What an E-mark indicates
An E-mark generally shows that a component has been approved under a relevant UNECE regulation by a recognised approval authority. The marking normally includes a circled or boxed “E” followed by a number identifying the approving country, plus additional approval characters.
What it does not automatically guarantee
- That the lamp fits every version of the advertised model.
- That LHD and RHD beam patterns are interchangeable.
- That installation requires no coding or additional modules.
- That every lighting animation or function is legal in every country.
- That a photographed marking applies to a different variant of the product.
What to verify on the listing
Check the exact product variant, stated approval, vehicle years, chassis, body style, original lamp technology and traffic-side configuration. When possible, confirm that the approval marking is permanently present on the lamp housing or lens rather than only mentioned in marketing copy.
Installation and inspection
Correct installation, beam alignment and functioning levelling or washer systems may still be required. Regulations and inspection procedures vary by destination, so the vehicle owner remains responsible for confirming local road-use requirements.
